We wanted to share some updates from around the District, and a few reminders about upcoming events:
We are excited to introduce Robert and Amy Childs as the new Site Coordinators for the Providence, RI Envision site! Robert, Amy and their children have been a part of Alliance churches in Ohio and Maine, having served in many ministry roles and explored serving internationally with the CMA as well. Instead, God has called them to serve in the US, but cross culturally in an urban environment and we are excited to join them in developing the new Envision Site in Providence! The Child’s have already begun training for their new role and they will begin fund raising soon, with the plan to relocate from Maine and be on site in Providence this summer. We will send more details later as they will begin to make contact with our district churches for connection and support. Please be praying with us for them as they prepare for this new ministry.
Jason and Erin Beamon have been called to be the new pastor at Greenfield Alliance Church in Greenfield, MA! This week the Beamon’s are settling into Greenfield after a snowy drive from Waterville, OH. Jason has served at Fallen Timbers Church in Waterville as the Assistant Pastor for the last five years. Jason and Erin have three children.
Faith Alliance Church in Attleboro, MA has called a new Lead Pastor! John and Robin Eger will soon be hitting the road for a cross country trip with their four children. John has served as the Associate Pastor at Alliance Bible Church in Hillsboro, Oregon for the last five years and will start in his new role in Attleboro on January 3rd.
Bethel Alliance Church in Bethel, ME will be welcoming Jordan and Ashley Flanders as their new Youth Pastor, beginning January 16th. Yes, you may recognize that last name…Jordan is the son of DS Tom Flanders, and we are all praying that you won’t hold that against him! Jordan and Ashley are relocating from North Carolina, where they have been working since graduating from Columbia International University in 2015.
We also extend a welcome to David Borden, a newly licensed worker who began serving December 1st as the Stamford Campus Pastor for Stanwich Congregational Church under Chuck Davis, Lead Pastor there. David has recently completed his MDiv at ATS and will be ordained on January 8th.
Please join us in warmly welcoming these families to the New England District, and join us in prayer for them and their families as they settle into their new communities and ministries. May God richly bless them!
Other Important News:
District Conference 2017
Please note that, for this coming year, we have moved the date of our District Conference to October 16-18, 2017. Typically held in April or May, we are moving Conference to the fall this year in an effort to free up the spring calendar so that more of you could attend General Council in 2017. Council is being held May 30-June 4, 2017 in Columbus, OH this year, and more details are available here.
Year End Offering
In these final weeks of the year, we ask you to remember the Alliance and our International Workers as they labor to bring hope that lasts to peoples around the world. Please bring the opportunity to support them through giving to the GCF’s Year End Offering to your congregation over these next couple of weeks. You should have received materials & resources to help you communicate this need, and you can find more online here. We are praying for 100% participation from Alliance New England churches, and we deeply appreciate your efforts in this area.
We have a newly accredited missionary candidate who is looking for a church placement to complete her 2 year Alliance Licensed Ministry Experience (ALME) before she can go overseas. This placement should provide the candidate with experience in evangelism and discipleship with a cross-cultural component preferred. The position can be part time (24 hours minimum) or full time, but it must be compensated. If you are interested or would like more information on what is involved, please contact Andy Geffers at email@example.com.
In case you are looking for them, all 2017 licenses will be mailed out from our office next week.
District Office Schedule
Please note that the district office will be closed for the holidays, from December 26th through January 2nd.
Our prayers are with you as you go into these final weeks of Advent. May God’s grace and power sustain you as you bring the hope and joy of Christ to your ministry and community. We wish you and your family rest and peace, and a hope-filled and joyous Christmas!
