Maple Ridge Church in Sunderland, MA is a multi-cultural and multi-generational church of about 100 in western Massachusetts. We are seeking a Lead Pastor who has a passion for Jesus and is committed to sound Bible teaching and preaching. They should have a heart for making disciples and a genuine desire to connect relationally with people. Godly character and discernment of God’s leading is essential. A deep passion to reach the lost and marginalized people of the world should be evident. They should be gifted in speaking and moving people to action. Among other things, the incoming Lead Pastor will continue to cultivate a culture and lifestyle of prayer among the body, as together we discern God’s direction for the church. They will teach others how to disciple well and in the process, develop and raise up new leaders, recast vision and stir up commitment to small group community life.
Maple Ridge Church is located in our own Community Center, created to offer a truly multi-purpose space for the benefit of the community. Every week, more than 400 individuals use the community center for a variety of educational, recreational, and community purposes, as well as worship services and other church activities. The Lead Pastor will be involved with maximizing the ministry potential of the community center and managing some of the administrative and facility-related aspects of the center.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Bible, Pastoral Ministry, other ministry-related field, or the equivalent. Prior experience in a pastoral position or five or more years’ experience in the highest levels of church lay leadership (i.e. Elder) is required. Candidates already licensed with the Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA) are preferred; but all candidates must be able to meet licensing and ordination requirements with the C&MA.
Maple Ridge Church is located in Sunderland, MA, a small town of 3,700 situated in central Massachusetts, an area referred to as the Pioneer Valley. This valley is known for its scenery of rolling hills, bluffs, meadows and forest that surround New England’s longest and largest river, the Connecticut River, which flows through the region and just west of Sunderland.
Sunderland is bordered by Amherst, MA to its south. Amherst is a quintessential New England college town and is home to Amherst College, Hampshire College, and the University of Massachusetts. It’s residential population of almost 38,000 swells by an additional 30,000 during the academic year. Amherst has a variety of rich cultural offerings, including museums, diverse restaurants & coffee shops, art galleries and bookstores.
