Unlike the heavy rains and overcast skies of last year’s Golf Classic, our 20 teams of 78 golfers enjoyed absolutely gorgeous and incredible weather on Monday, May 21 for the 2018 celebration and fundraiser for Alliance New England churches.

Joe and John Peck once again hosted the event at the beautiful Country Club of Halifax in Halifax, MA. “This is our 21st year at Halifax for the ANE Golf Classic. We are so thankful for their unmatched generosity making this all possible!” exclaimed Tom Flanders, District Superintendent. “We are thrilled to announce over $15,000 was raised to support the churches and programs within the district.”

In It to Win It

Teams traveled from across New England to participate in the fundraiser. The event kicked off with a Shotgun start at 2:00 pm. In addition to testing their drive and putting skills on the 18-hole, Par 72 course, attendees also competed in our traditional Longest Drive, 50/50 Putting Contest, Closest to the Pin, and other boast-worthy challenges. “People were having an absolute blast, all day long,” added Tom.

This year’s winners:

Longest Drive: Alec Schuberth (men) and Kayla Schuberth (women) from COE in Foxboro
Closest to the Pin: Doug Ela from Faith Alliance in Attleboro
Putting Contest: Mike Moulton from COE in Foxboro

For the team competition, the gentlemen from Christ Chapel in Madison, CT upset last year’s reigning champs from Journey Church.

1st Place – Christ Chapel in Madison, CT

Doug Dry, TJ Katz, Garrett Bland and Phil Gottlick

2nd Place – Essex Alliance Church in Essex, VT

Scott Slocum, Adam Slocum, Ed Townley and Mike Landsburg

3rd Place – Journey Church in Conway, NH

Trevor Skalberg, John Hill, Joshua  Davis, Paul Luciano

The day concluded in the dining facilities at the country club, where guests enjoyed a BBQ buffet of steak tips, chicken and all the fixings. The day’s winners were announced and celebrated, and Robert Childs was introduced, representing Envision Providence. He is now on the ground at the site and preparing for an active summer.

Overall, it was a truly successful event, and the funds raised will go directly towards supporting the development of churches within our region. Lastly, please join us in extending our deepest thanks to all of the sponsors for their support as well.
