Biggest Year Ever
You did it. You made 2019 one of our biggest year’s in recent history for the annual Golf Classic. The final totals are in, and – wait for it – we raised $22,367! OVER 22 GRAND! Wow.
For comparison, here’s the previous years’ breakdowns:
You are reading those numbers right. Amazing. And we are so thankful for the generosity of our churches, the sponsors, and all the ANE family that came out to participate and contribute to this year’s event for making this one of our most successful. In particular, we would like to express our deep appreciation to John and Joey Peck, owners of the Country Club of Halifax for their continued support and donation of all the profits made from the Golf Classic. Thank you!
A Perfect Day
It may be an understatement to declare this year’s Golf Classic a “perfect day.” But really, when looking back at some of the weather we endured and needed to schedule around in recent memory… the day was pretty near perfect. There were clear blue skies, a slight breeze, and beautifully warm temperatures. Ideal conditions for spending a day hitting balls and enjoying the gorgeous Country Club of Halifax’s 18-hole PGA course with friends and family.
With 72 golfers signed up to play, they were broken down into groups of 4 across the 18 holes for a scramble start at 1:30pm. Everyone arrived slightly before then to check-in, hit a few practice balls on the driving range and putting green, and even grab a burger or hot dog at the snack shack.
Then after a brief welcome from Tom, the carts scattered and the playing commenced. Over the course of the afternoon, players also participated in a few extra challenges and contests – including Longest Drive, a Putting 50/50, and Closest to the Pin.
The day wrapped up with the BBQ buffet dinner and Awards banquet. All of the winners were announced and congratulated, while the golfers dined on a fantastic meal of grilled steak and chicken, corn, rolls, salads, and desserts with cookies and brownies.

Lastly, the churches and businesses that were this year’s sponsor were a huge part of this year’s success. Sponsorships are one of the most significant fundraising tools that contribute to our success. Please take the time to thank these organizations and individuals, and if possible, look to them for the products, services, and ministries that they offer.
